Mumbai movie theatres and Hollywood films

Before the excitement of watching the end of Twilight Saga could take over, Mumbai went through a roller coaster week.

The biggest news of course has been the on-off death of Bal Thackrey followed by arrest of two girls  for a post on facebook. We are so afraid of shinning the light and examining our subject, or so wary of upsetting the apple cart of privilege, that we would rather hide behind a veil called the "Middle Ground". The Sena has always affected our lives, from changing Bombay and its residents, for better of for worst. The Sena as it is known till date with its leader is gone, and despite all the good and bad of the past, it is heart breaking to bid farewell to a powerful leader and orator. May his soul rest in peace and his good work continues to shine.

Then we saw the commendable job of our leaders, the police in arresting the Palghar girls. Like seriously! If the comments that we make on facebook about our leaders are to be considered, more than half of us need to be behind bars by now. What are the authorities trying to do? Set and example,  incept fear or instigate the youth?

Then came the sudden hanging of Ajmal Kasab on Wednesday who was but a puppet first used by the attackers and then by the politicians. Dengue death or really hanged, whatever it was, I wonder what we have portrayed globally. Ajmal may have met the rarest of rare criterion but instead of clapping our hands there is lot of soul-searching we need to do.

And finally after losing 150 crores due to this week's events, Bollywood had no movies to offer over the weekend and there were only two international movies competing for screen space. Well as a mumbaikar, I couldn't help but find Bollywood masala in Breaking Dawn Part 2, when Edward picked up Bella to hit the Volutri Villain - Aro, I am sure they were inspired by Akshay Kumar's Khiladi series. On a lighter note and heavy heart the weekend finally came with Twilight lovers happy for the release and haters happy that the saga came to an end.

PS: I feel like changing the name of my blog to The Hidden Message!
