Knock knock. Who is there? Monsoon!
The most awaited, loved and adored season of Mumbai is
alarming its arrival, with lots of footage, very much like the entry of superstars
in our Bollywood movies. Well Mumbai rains and superstars have a lot
in common like creating hype, mesmerising people, over the top drama and being controversial. The rains bring so much content for mumbaikars to chat over evening
siestas of chai and pakoda, like the Mithi River fiasco, pot holes (which are actually man holes), overflowing drainage, crawling traffic and the most epic topic is FLOODS!
We love criticizing and advising on all of them, don’t we?
The way cutting chai has that extra patti to make it kadak, we mumbaikars have our spirit. Even after facing problems every monsoon, we welcome it with
open arms every year. Letting each drop fall on the skin until it reaches the soul. The
reason I can’t really figure out…
Maybe it is that nostalgic umbrella weaved with memories
that we always carry with us during rains,
The paper boats that we floated as kids,
The friends we played with under the pouring sky,
The cutting chai we sipped at the tapri,
The Vadapav we shared with commuters in train,
The warmth of famililiarity when we come home,
The love that nurtures in our heart with every drop,
Whatever it is, we never forget that the rains have weaved
these memories for us and that is why it is so easy to overlook all the other chaos it brings along with it.
